I’m so excited to share our modern pink art deco wedding styled shoot at 501 Union in Brooklyn. It was featured on MODWedding! Get ready to feel transported to a modern version of the 1920s with pink and gold accents, geometric patterns, sparkly details and unique style.

The very talented Simone Reddicks of Coordinated To Perfection and I collaborated to create an inspiring shoot to capture the imagination of brides looking for modern art deco ideas for their wedding.

Bastille Flowers & Events made the most gorgeous table design with a solid black satin cloth accented with a white and black geometric runner by BBJ Linen, gold chiliwich placemats, silk black napkins and gold flatware, gold rimmed chinaware and glassware and lucite chairs.  Running the length of the rectangular table was a series of high and low flower compositions including beautiful white quince, billowing white french tulips, fuchsia sweet pea, ruffly soft pink ranunculi,  white anemones with black centers and accents of chartreuse green vibernum. Unique black vessels, textured gold vases and crystal vases held the blooms. The tabletop was completed with bowls filled with decadent gold dusted strawberries and our DIY gold votive candle holders. Mirrored table numbers completed the look by LBV Designs.

Tracy and Enis met and fell in love in NYC, so it was the perfect place to have their wedding! The day began with Tracy getting ready with her mom and sister at a hotel in Long Island City.

Tracy and Enis shared a first look before the wedding ceremony. They were both so excited to see each other as Tracy walked up to Enis in Gantry State Park.

It sprinkled a little bit, but didn’t stop us from getting some great shots. The mist made the green leaves extra vibrant and they got a romantic umbrella moment!

Many personal touches and memorable moments made the wedding day extra special. Tracy shares, “Enis and I wanted to incorporate elements from our different heritages in our wedding: Albanian and Chinese. We gave out multiple favors to our guests: an organza bag filled with five Jordan almonds in the Mediterranean tradition to symbolize health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life, favor boxes shaped like lucky red envelopes with the Chinese double happiness symbol on them, and chocolate lollipops with the Albanian double headed eagle on them. I wore a Chinese inspired red dress during the cocktail hour and the reception. We had our guests sign a Chinese silk tablecloth instead of a guest book.  We performed a Chinese tea ceremony and served tea to our parents, uncles and aunts.  We danced to several Albanian songs, including one in which Enis, according to Albanian tradition, was supposed to set a cloth napkin on fire to signify the end of his bachelorhood. Given that we were indoors at the Vista Sky Lounge, we didn’t set fire to anything.

Speaking of the Vista Sky Lounge, we had originally chosen that venue because of the beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline. Too bad it rained on our wedding! It drizzled all during our first look photo session at Gantry State Park in Long Island City. There was a light mist during our pre-ceremony cocktail hour. Then it was cloudy for the rest of the night. Fortunately, it had stopped raining right before our ceremony, which was so much fun!  We didn’t have any rituals or readings; rather, our celebrant told our guests the back story of our love and joked about our relationships with our (now) mothers-in-law.

Enis and I wanted our wedding to be a fun one. The food was delicious, the alcohol was flowing and everyone was dancing. We had a great time and we hope that all our guests did too!”

Jamie and Graeme were married at the beautiful Maryland Inn in Annapolis. Pretty, white, classic touches surrounded the lovely ceremony. The day was filled with love and joy.

Jamie shares, “Because Graeme is British and I’m a Marylander, we really wanted a wedding venue that would reflect where we both came from. Dating from 1776, the historic Maryland Inn was an obvious choice for us, and perfect for the classic, intimate feel we wanted.”

Graeme shares his favorite moment, “Apart from marrying the love of my life, obviously, the funniest part was watching our super-cute flower girl walk the length of the aisle without dropping a single rose petal and then sitting next to her father… who proceeded to throw handfuls of petals over his shoulder to make up for lost time!”

Regina and Jason are full of life and love. They love bright colors, dancing, being silly and celebrating special moments with family and friends.  Regina shares, “We were definitely going for a quirky chic kind of look because it just fits our personalities so well. We wanted it formal-ish with a bit of fun, play, and whimsical little details that would describe our personality to a tee. Basically, we were aiming for having a wedding that we ourselves would want to go to.”

They were married at the Ravel Hotel, overlooking a beautiful view of the city and Queensboro Bridge.

Regina shares some of her personal touches,  “I’m a passionate DIY-er, and I loved the table setting we had from our personalized photo table runners to the frames describing the reasons we loved each other. I was super excited about our vinyl records guestbooks, too, and they’re now up in our home. Our special foodie details for the event were definitely the lechon (roasted pig) in our cocktail hour and the candy buffet for dessert!”

Jason adds, “We loved having one of our close friends create a drink for the occasion called the LimDick, which was created from both of our taste profiles.”

So much joy and happy tears filled Chloe and Glen’s wedding day.

The couple was married at the beautiful Hilton Pearl River in NY. Their wedding was elegant and fun with special touches like a pink wedding dress, midnight blue tux, lovely outdoor ceremony and festive hora!

Chloe and Glen shared a first look. Chloe says, “It’s hard to pick a favorite moment from a day that is far and away the happiest and best day of my life, but I’ll settle for two that stand out the most. Our first look was extremely special to me. After a fun and relaxed morning of getting ready with my mom, sister, and closest friends, it was finally time to kick things off and see my groom. I thought I would feel nervous but walking out to the bridge where Glen was waiting for me, I just felt excitement and pure joy. Glen was waiting at the foot of the bridge with his back turned away from me. As I walked across the lawn, I couldn’t wait to see him and for him to see me. Those first moments alone together were the perfect way to start the wedding celebration and for us to remember that the day is about our love and our life together.”

Chloe talks about the style and feeling of her wedding day, “Glen and I were really excited to have a spring wedding and wanted our wedding to represent the bright colors and happiness that comes along with the spring season. To this end, we decided that against the black backdrop of the bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen’s tuxedos we would do really bright pink and purple flowers and have the guests blow bubbles as we recessed from the ceremony. Obviously, we couldn’t control the weather, but as it turned out we had an absolutely perfect spring day and were able to have our ceremony in the gorgeous green area behind the hotel, one of the main reasons we fell in love with the venue initially. Independently, Glen and I both had the idea to do something unique for our wedding attire. I decided on a blush dress to go along with the colorful and fun atmosphere that we were trying to create and Glen chose a midnight blue tuxedo so that he would stand out among the groomsmen. Both of us had rhinestones on our flowers, his in his boutonniere and mine in the bouquet.”

The ketubah signing took place before the big wedding ceremony. Glen shares, “My favorite moments from the wedding day were the ketubah signing ceremony and the processional. The ketubah signing was held in a room at a far end of the hotel where Chloe and I, along with the bridal party and our immediate families, were secluded from the arriving guests. Before Chloe and I signed the beautiful ketubah, the rabbi asked us to close our eyes and envision the moments that led us to our wedding day, including when we first met and our engagement. It was very intense to think about those brief moments in time together, and how our relationship was about to culminate in a wedding ceremony. Chloe and I then opened our eyes and looked at one another, both in awe of the moment. We signed the ketubah, and the rabbi informed everyone that the legal marriage ceremony was complete, and that the rest of the day was just a celebration. What a relief! The maître d’ then escorted everyone to the location of the ceremony in the lawn area in the rear of the hotel.”

Glen shares one of his favorite moments from the wedding day, “As I was about to walk into the ceremony with my parents, the doors to the outside opened and I looked out to a sea of people. I immediately thought to myself “where did everyone come from?!?” I now understand why people call getting married taking the plunge because taking the first steps to walk down the aisle is as exhilarating as jumping from a cliff into a lake. Watching the bridal party then proceed down the aisle was a surreal moment. Seeing my best friends who I had known for many, many years, now grown up and dressed in tuxedos, come greet me, I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes. Finally, when Chloe walked down the aisle, I was flooded with emotion. I made sure to take in those fleeting 15 seconds. What I felt was indescribable.”

Chloe adds, “My other favorite memory is from the ceremony. During the ceremony, the rabbi, who is one of my close friends since childhood, had Glen and me turn and look at the guests. She wanted us to fully take in the setting of our wedding and to see everyone who had come to share in the celebration. It was overwhelming looking at the sea of people whom Glen and I had shared so many memories with throughout our lives. It was incredible that everyone was there to witness our commitment and to show their support for our marriage. I felt so blessed to be marrying the love of my life and to have such amazing family and friends to share in our joy. After a year and a half of planning, the wedding was a whirlwind and felt like it was over in the blink of an eye. But we had a spectacular celebration that could not have been better, even the aspects that were out of our control worked in our favor and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to start our life together.”
