I met Caryn and Trilby in Central Park for a mini-engagement session.

Caryn shares, “In May 2014, Trilby and I bought engagement rings together.  We had decided that each of us would propose to the other at some undetermined point in the future.  I had planned to wait until our summer vacation to ask her, but as soon as we bought the rings Trilby started hinting that she would like to be engaged sooner rather than later.  I adjusted my plans and under the guise of her birthday, I lured her to dinner. I enlisted the help of my co-workers who hid flowers in the bushes in Gramercy Park. When Trilby came to meet me before dinner, I told her I wanted to show her Gramercy Park since she had never been inside it.  At the end of our walk, we stopped by a beautiful flower garden and I got down on one knee and asked the love of my life to marry me.  It was one of the happiest moments of my life. Afterward I took her to dinner to celebrate our engagement and her birthday (which was two days later). When we arrived home, I unlocked the apartment door and stepped inside to see pictures of us all over the apartment and a sign that said “I love you.”  I walked around looking at all of the pictures. Trilby had put our faces on images of people proposing and made the background places that were meaningful to us.  For instance, she was proposing to me in front of the Ghandi statue where we first met, at the Cloisters where we went on the day of our first kiss, in Central Park, and lastly in a movie theater where the screen read “Will you marry me?”  I, of course, said “yes!”  It is crazy that, without knowing, we chose the same day to propose.”

Caryn continues, “Central Park is one of my favorite places in NYC. I grew up in the Adirondacks in upstate New York and, while I love the city and all it has to offer, I miss the smell of the woods and the colors of the leaves in autumn.  Thankfully Trilby and I do not live far from Central Park which allows me the opportunity to escape city life for just a little bit and reconnect with nature.”
