DIY Shabby Chic: Congratulations Jena & Andy!

Jena and Andy were married at the Hidden Creek Country Club in Northern Virginia.

Jena chose to wear some very special pieces including an heirloom watch, charms around her bouquet with photos of grand parents and she borrowed her Swarovski crystal hair piece from her sister, who wore it the day she was married, as well.

Jena and Andy decided to see each other before the ceremony with a first look. They were so happy to see each other!

Jena and Andy met in 2008 and were engaged just this past fall. Jena share’s the proposal story, “Andy’s proposal was perfect!  We both share a love of all things Fall especially Halloween & Pumpkins!  We spent a few weekends practicing our pumpkin carving skills.  I came home from work Friday, October 22nd to an excited Andy pleading with me to go see the pumpkins he bought to carve that night. To my SURPRISE, there were the most perfect pumpkins already carved with…. WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

Jena and Andy had a candy bar set up at the reception full of the prettiest pink candies!

Jena is truly a DIY bride!  I asked her to share her style ideas, “My style influence was romantic, shabby chic, southern charm. I am an aspiring Southern Belle : ) lol”

Jena went to the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her design sensibility and love for fashion and all things aesthetically pleasing surely inspired the look for the wedding.
She continues, “I truly enjoyed every part of planning and scouting out each piece and idea, it was like a treasure hunt!  At the end of the Wedding, I was proud to see my vision come to life! I spent every single day off I had at thrift shops, Home Goods, Marshall’s, and most importantly MICHAEL’S!! Every time Andy would call me, I was at Michael’s. I was always at Michaels!  I even dragged him there once and he was enthralled by it!”

One of the stand-out pieces at the reception were the beautiful table numbers. I found out later Jena made them herself! “I got naked wooden numbers, mod podged (I love love mod podge) scrapbook paper cut to fit the number and painted and spray shellacked them. I made the flowers from ribbon and hot glue and rhinestones and pearls!
Jena also made the favors, “The favors I made from a mason jar and a candlestick and some aquarium glue!  I bought the shipping labels and threaded them with raffia and stamped them with a custom stamp I designed and purchased from stampoutonline at Etsy!”

Congratulations Jena and Andy!
